How we check work an AI made
AI work looks finished whether it’s right or wrong. So we don’t ask whether it looks right. We check it against the documents it was made from, figure by figure, with our own software.
1. We find your file and your documents
You send the file the AI made and the documents it was made from, in one order. If we can’t tell which file is the AI’s work, we ask you, with your files to choose from.
2. We check that it’s the kind of work you chose
You choose the kind of work when you order, and its own check runs first. If your file is another kind, we ask you before we start: check the file you sent as it is, or wait for the one you meant.
3. We check it against your documents
Each kind of work has its own check. A rent roll is checked row by row against its leases, a T-12 month by month against the bank statements, a takeoff against the drawings measured again. See the 24 kinds of work we check.
4. We check it against itself
Every total is added up again and every formula worked out again. Where the work holds figures that follow from one another, such as debits and credits, a variance or a loan’s interest, each one is worked out from the others.
5. We tell you what we couldn’t check
Anything we couldn’t check is listed, with the reason: a page that can’t be read, a figure that’s in none of your documents, a part of the work your documents don’t cover. Nothing is passed in silence.
What counts as an error
- A wrong figure or date: your file says one thing and your documents another.
- Something left out: in your documents, but not in your file.
- Something made up: in your file, but in none of your documents.
- Arithmetic that doesn’t hold: a total, a formula or a figure that doesn’t follow from the ones it comes from.
Choices that are yours, such as an assumption, a category name or a layout, aren’t errors, and we don’t judge them.
What you get back
One Excel workbook:
- Findings. Every error, with where it is in your file, what your file says, what your documents say and what’s wrong.
- Your own sheets, marked. When your file is a spreadsheet, every wrong cell is marked, with a note on it. Your file itself is never changed.
- What couldn’t be checked. Anything that couldn’t be checked is listed, with the reason. Nothing is passed in silence.
